Sweet Harvest Farms version of Lip Balm for hydrated smoother lips!
Who likes chapped lips? No one! So we buy whatever we can without really giving any consideration (or at least much consideration) to the active ingredients within. Bees wax is a popular ingredient used in lip products because it makes your skin feel soft but did you know that bees wax pulls every drop of moisture from your lips? That’s why you keep having to reapply every 30 mins or so. There are literally hundreds of “lip balms” out there that are using 75% or more of nothing but bees wax! Whether you purchase them from your pharmacy or high end department stores – some of these selling for $60 or more! It’s not only the ingredients but also the recipe that can make all the difference!
So let’s talk a little science for a moment. I am sure you have heard the word ceramide used a lot lately when it comes to cosmetics. Ceramides are naturally occurring lipid molecule (sterols and fats). They are part of the cellular membrane structure that are found on the surface layer of your skin. These lipids help the skin retain moisture while acting as a barrier against harmful substances finding their way into your skin. Ceramide is also a proapoptotic molecule which means it is one of those types of cells that will die off so that new cells can multiply and grow. Unfortunately, as we age, the effectiveness of ceramides breaks down and dryer skin with those awful wrinkles start to form. There is hope, however, as there are naturally occurring ceramides in organic oils that are said to help increase hydration and a moisture barrier helping to keep that moisture in.
*Jojoba oil contain 96% of ceramides while also containing antibacterial and anti- inflammatory properties.
*Shea Butter too is high in ceramides and help with deep reconstructing and balancing of your skins natural oils.
*Castor oil not only adds shine but also penetrates the skin to fight bacteria that can clog pores while hydrating at the same time.
*Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and it helps keep the moisture of your lips intact keeping them soft, hydrated and can also reduce inflammation caused by sun damage.
*Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is an anti-oxidant that helps to repair damaged tissue.
Our Lip Smoothie recipe combines all these ingredients that will make a difference in your "puckering power"! While we do use a pinch of bees wax, it is only enough to help keep our product formed and not anywhere near the amount used in many lip balm products. We don't use fancy-shmancy synthetic flavored oils either. A simple organic Peppermint/Lemongrass flavor is just enough to say "Hmm-mmm good"!
That's a big punch for a .25 ounce glass container but because you will not have to apply it over and over during the day (like other products out there) it will last and last.
